Arriving at YYC
We track your inbound flight, so a delay or an early landing simply moves the pickup. Your chauffeur messages you when you touch down, meets you inside the terminal after customs and baggage claim, and walks you to a numbered bus bay (1 to 36) outside arrivals. From there it is a direct drive — no shared seats, no other stops — to your hotel entrance.
Departing for YYC
Tell us your flight time and we work backwards: airline check-in guidance, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes of driving from Banff or 1 hour 15 minutes from Canmore, plus a winter buffer. We collect you at your hotel lobby, condo entrance or rental driveway at the agreed time and drive straight to YYC departures.
How long the drive actually takes
- YYC ↔ Banff: about 1 hour 30 minutes, 140 km on the Trans-Canada Highway. Calgary rush hour, a long weekend or winter weather can add 15 to 30 minutes.
- YYC ↔ Canmore: about 1 hour 15 minutes, 105 km. Canmore sits outside the park gate, so no park pass is needed just to reach your accommodation.
- Winter hours: 1 November to 28 February we drive in daylight only — arrivals must land by 3:30 PM, departures leave the valley from 7:30 AM.
Step-by-step arrivals detail lives on our YYC pickup rules page, and the full fare list is on rates & schedule.
Calgary Airport to Banff: shuttle, taxi, rental car or private transfer
Five realistic ways to cover the 140 km between YYC and Banff, with typical published times and costs so you can weigh them honestly.
| Option | Typical time | Typical cost | Hotel door | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur (us) | ≈ 1 hr 30 min | CA$475 flat, whole vehicle | Your party only. Flight tracked, met inside the terminal, driven straight to your hotel entrance. | |
| Shared airport shuttle | 2 – 3 hrs | ≈ CA$70 – 90 per person, each way | Fixed departure times, waits for the vehicle to fill, then a loop of hotel stops before yours. | |
| Scheduled coach / bus | 2 – 2.5 hrs | ≈ CA$40 – 70 per person, each way | Cheapest for one or two people. Set timetable, central drop points, luggage limits on gear. | |
| Rental car | ≈ 1 hr 30 min plus counter time | Rental + fuel + park pass + Banff parking | Flexible, but you drive a mountain highway after a long flight and park it all week in Banff. | |
| Taxi / ride-hailing | ≈ 1 hr 30 min | Metered, typically higher than our flat rate | Uber and Lyft do not operate in Banff National Park, so there is no return trip this way. |
Shuttle, coach and rental figures are typical published ranges for this route and change by season and operator — check current prices before you decide. Our flat rate is the price of the whole vehicle for up to 5 passengers, so a party of three or more is usually at or below per-seat pricing.
Calgary Airport to Canmore: the same comparison
Canmore is 35 km closer than Banff, but accommodation is spread across Three Sisters, Silvertip and Bow Valley Trail — which is exactly where shared services get awkward.
| Option | Typical time | Typical cost | Hotel door | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur (us) | ≈ 1 hr 15 min | CA$425 flat, whole vehicle | Driven to your actual condo, resort lobby or rental driveway — not a central stop. | |
| Shared airport shuttle | 1.5 – 2.5 hrs | ≈ CA$65 – 85 per person, each way | Most shuttles are Banff-oriented and treat Canmore as a limited set of stops along the way. | |
| Scheduled coach / bus | ≈ 1.5 – 2 hrs | ≈ CA$35 – 60 per person, each way | Budget option. Fixed timetable and a walk or taxi from the stop with your bags. | |
| Rental car | ≈ 1 hr 15 min plus counter time | Rental + fuel (+ park pass if you enter the park) | Parking is easier than Banff, but Silvertip and Three Sisters access roads get slick in winter. | |
| Taxi / ride-hailing | ≈ 1 hr 15 min | Metered, usually above the flat rate | Uber and Lyft do not operate in the Bow Valley, so availability is limited and unpredictable. |
Calgary Airport transfers, answered
- Where do arriving passengers meet the chauffeur at YYC?
- Your chauffeur contacts you once you land and meets you inside the terminal after customs and baggage claim, then walks you out to a numbered bus bay (1 to 36) outside arrivals where the vehicle is waiting.
- How early should a departure leave Banff or Canmore for a YYC flight?
- Allow about 1 hour 30 minutes of driving from Banff, 1 hour 15 minutes from Canmore, on top of the usual airline guidance of two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one. Give us your flight time and we confirm the pickup.
- What does an airport transfer cost?
- CA$475 flat between YYC and Banff, CA$425 flat between YYC and Canmore. That is the price of the whole vehicle for up to 5 passengers, one way — not a per-seat fare, with no meter, surge or airport surcharge.
- Do Uber, Lyft or taxis serve Banff and Canmore?
- Ride-hailing does not operate in Banff National Park or the Bow Valley, so you cannot count on it for the return trip to Calgary Airport. Licensed operators, taxis, scheduled shuttles and Roam transit are the alternatives.
- What happens if my flight is delayed?
- We track your flight number, so a delay simply moves your pickup at no extra charge and nothing needs rebooking from your end.
- Are there winter restrictions?
- From 1 November to 28 February we operate in daylight hours only: airport pickups must land by 3:30 PM and valley departures start no earlier than 7:30 AM. We run winter tires and build extra time into winter drives.
- How do I pay, and is there a deposit?
- No deposit and no cancellation fee. You pay at the end of the ride in the vehicle by Square terminal — tap, chip, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
