Calgary Airport to Sunshine Village Private Transfer
Sunshine Village sits 8 km west of Banff townsite off the Trans-Canada, about 1 hour 45 minutes from Calgary Airport. We run private transfers straight from arrivals to your Banff hotel — with the ski bags loaded properly instead of stacked on a shuttle rack.
Request a QuoteHow the Sunshine Village transfer works
Most skiers fly into YYC, transfer to a Banff hotel, and ride the resort's own shuttle or the SkiBig3 bus up to the Sunshine gondola each morning. Our part is the airport leg: we meet you at arrivals, load the gear, and drive you directly to your Banff hotel at our published CA$475 flat rate for up to 5 passengers.
Sunshine's access road climbs from the Trans-Canada to the gondola base and the resort restricts private vehicles on it during operating periods, so a hotel drop-off in Banff is the practical arrangement for arrival day.
Skiing the SkiBig3 area
Banff's three resorts — Sunshine Village, Lake Louise Ski Resort, and Mt Norquay — sell a combined SkiBig3 lift ticket and share a shuttle network from Banff hotels. Sunshine is the highest and holds the longest natural season, typically early November into late May. Lake Louise offers the most terrain. Norquay is the closest to town and the best choice for a half day.
- Sunshine Village — 3,300+ acres, all-natural snow, season runs into May.
- Lake Louise — 4,200 acres across four faces, 45 minutes from Banff.
- Mt Norquay — 6 km from town, night skiing, ideal first or last day.
Travelling with ski and snowboard gear
A GMC Yukon XL swallows four to five passengers plus ski bags and boot bags without strapping anything to a roof rack in freezing weather. Tell us your bag count when you book so we can confirm the fit before you land — five adults with five ski bags and five suitcases is beyond one vehicle, and it is better to sort that out in advance than at the curb.
Winter pickup window
November 1 to February 28 we operate daylight hours only: YYC arrivals by 3:30 PM and hotel departures from 7:30 AM. Ski season and our safety window overlap, so book flights that land early afternoon where you can. If your inbound lands later, contact us and we will point you to an alternative for that leg.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Sunshine Village from Calgary Airport?
Roughly 145 km, about 1 hour 45 minutes of driving via the Trans-Canada Highway. Allow extra time in winter conditions.
Do you carry ski and snowboard bags?
Yes. Ski and board bags travel inside the GMC Yukon XL rather than on an external rack. Let us know your exact bag count when booking so we can confirm capacity.
Can you drop me at the Sunshine gondola instead of my hotel?
Our standard service is airport to hotel. Sunshine restricts private vehicles on the access road during resort operating periods, so most guests are dropped at their Banff hotel and use the resort or SkiBig3 shuttle from there.
What does the transfer cost?
YYC to a Banff hotel is a published CA$475 flat rate per vehicle for up to 5 passengers, each way. See the rates page for what is included.
When is the Sunshine Village ski season?
Sunshine typically opens in early November and runs into late May — the longest natural-snow season in the Canadian Rockies.
